Etude Heirloom Pinot Noir, produced from several heirloom selections of Carneros Pinot Noir, is dedicated to the celebration and preservation of plant diversity. It is an example of the superior wines – unusually expressive, concentrated and pure – that issue from original varieties or clones offering unique genetic characteristics.

All the fruit in this Pinot Noir is grown on the Etude Estate Vineyards in Carneros and comes from shy-bearing selections with a marked tendency to produce small, irregularly shaped bunches and very small berries. Growers typically hold such vines in low regard due to their inability to produce consistent crops. This tenuous economic viability threatens their existence.

This Intriguing and expressive Pinot Noir opens with aromas of raspberry, violet, black tea and spice. The generous fruit flavors and vibrant acidity create a broad palate. The velvety tannins and wonderful oak integration carry through on the long finish, which is persistent with hints of orange zest and spice. This young wine will continue to evolve for several more years and promises exceptional complexity and age-worthiness.

"Good deep, bright red. Dark fruits on the nose, lifted by floral, mineral and minty nuances. The juiciest and the most clearly delineated of these 2007 pinots, with black raspberry and strawberry fruit flavors offering a light touch. Finishes with a broad dusting of tannins and sneaky length. This wine comes closest in style to the sappy red fruit and floral character of past vintages of Etude's pinots."

Amazing fruit that stays strong throughout ends with a tangy thrill and solid tannins. Complimented my clams linguinie perfectly but was a winner by itself as I made dinner ;)

This Pinot is simply fantastic in every way. The appearance is warm with it's ruby and garnet color. The nose is deep and rich with hints of black cherries, raisins, berries and soft chocolate. The pallet starts sweet with good tannins that fade into an excellent balance of ripe fruit. The finish is long as silky. This Pinot is worth every bit of its 95 point rating. Drink now or put it in the cellar for that special occasion. Good until 2020.
