Les Crays is always a sensuous wine, with miles of sweet, luscious fruit and a depth that can give even the heartiest a touch of vertigo. Forest's 40-year-old vines sit mid-slope, and with just this extra bit of altitude, helps keep fruit fresher and better balanced. Crushed red fruits show on the nose, a great sign of complexity; the mouth is all almonds, buttered toast and Meyer lemons.
"Light gold. Ripe pear, peach and melon aromas are complemented by sweet butter and smoky minerals. Spicy orchard fruit flavors gain weight with air, taking a turn toward mango, but spicy minerality helps maintain clarity and energy. Broad, deep peach and apricot flavors dominate the finish, with a snap of refreshing lime zest adding cut and lingering impressively."International Wine Cellar
