I am surprised by the other reviews of this sherry. I have only tried 4-5 amontillados admittedly, but this one was the most memorable. I love the toasty, light golden brown quality of this sherry, and the hazelnut aroma and taste is wonderful. I find it very interesting that it begins with a hint of sweetness, and finishes on a bitter toasted pine nut note. A Spanish friend suggested drinking it slightly chilled with a singed orange peel as a garnish, and I really enjoyed that as well.
So I'm usually not a sherry fan. I was delightfully impressed and amazed when I tried this wine at a tasting recently. It was almost like a tawny port in its nutty, oxidized flavors, but less alcohol and totally dry. I really enjoyed its complexity and the delicious, lingering finish.
To be fare I don't really get Sherry.
