The 2006 Rutherford Petite Sirah is textbook opaque blackish-purple in color with intense aromatics of violets, smoky bacon fat, deep black fruits, tar, crème de cassis and hints of dusty earth and black pepper. This full-bodied wine has rich flavors of dark plums, blueberries and blackberries with a touch of mocha and game. Lush fruit carries the firm, dusty cocoa like tannins on this big wine to a long and pleasing finish.
Pair with strong cheeses, wild game, lamb shank or a nicely peppered strip steak.
This wine will age nicely for a good 8 – 10 years.
"Bright medium ruby. Vibrant aromas of blackberry, licorice and pepper. Densely packed and chewy, with very good defi nition and lift to the palatesaturating fl avors of blackberry, kirsch and cracked pepper. A lively fruit bomb of a petite sirah, fi nishing with tannins that dust the front teeth. A very good example of this variety, and long on personality.
