Elena Fucci Titolo Aglianico Del Vulture 2006
Red Wine from Italy
Once more the Fucci family doesn't miss a beat! Its high altitude vineyards, the pure 'pozzolana' volcanic lava soil, and the
musculous labor by never tiring Generoso Fucci, complete the picture you need in order to grasp the dimensions of this wine.
With new acreage of old vines converted to high quality production, and the first parcels of new vineyards coming into
production, Fucci is now upgraded from a close size to a garage operation! A balanced and elegant wine combined with
power that we feel is unique!
"Elena Fucci makes one of the most fascinating wines of Basilicata. The 2006 Aglianico del Vulture Titolo is dark, brooding wine leaded with violets, blackberry jam, new leather, earthiness, and cured meats. The wine possesses staggering richness and opulence, along with considerable varietal character and tons of harmony. The full-throttle style may not be for everyone, but this wine delivers the good and then some. Readers looking to explore the heights of Aglianico as grown on the high altitude, volcanic soils of the Vulture owe it to themselves to check out this reference point wine. "

Learn About Elena Fucci
Perched above the famous Villa Rotondo, the Fucci property towers over the heart of the Aglianico del Vulture area in Basilicata. At 650 meters of altitude the soil is pure black volcanic lava, also locally known as 'pozzolana'. "Titolo" is the name of this Lava channel or "costone", which came down from the now extinct Vulture volcano. Nobody owns vineyards located higher than the Fucci's, no winery harvests later than the Fucci's, making these Aglianico grapes the last grapes harvested in all of Europe for dry red wine making!
