Dynamite Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc 2001
Sauvignon Blanc
from Sonoma County, California
winemaker's notes:
Crafted to emphasize the herbal and fruit
flavors that match so well with food. This wine is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc from vineyards in
Medocino and Napa counties, and Sémillon from San Luis Obispo County.A moderate marine-influenced growing season and rain-free harvest season produced perfectly ripe fruit, creating a wine with a full, round mouthfeel, and aromas of melon with a hint of fresh cut grass. We fermented 82 percent of the wine in French oak barrels to give it complexity and 18 percent in stainless steel tanks to enhance the grape's bright fruit lavors. Try this Sauvignon Blanc with fresh blue mussels sautéed with shallots, garlic, parsley, tarragon, oregano, and thyme, then cooked with white wine and lemon juice and served with hot sourdough bread.
We use the name Dynamite as a reminder of the origins of our winery and its vineyards, planted on the steep rocky slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains between Sonoma and Napa Valleys. In the early days, dynamite was frequently used to blast stubborn rocks from the vine rows. -Jeff Baker,Winemaker

I have found this wine to be really great. Not just for it's price range, but it taste as smooth as more costly wines of this type. It's perfect with chicken, sea food, and some Brie and Carr's crackers as a snack. I'm sending a bottle as a gift this year to a special client of mine. It's crisp clean and soothing, everything I look for in a white!
