Winemaker Notes
Analytically this wine has the highest level of acidity they've ever bottled, such that would make an old Burgundian puff out his chest with pride. At bottling these two parts were somewhat disparate but expect with a year in bottle that they will harmonize into a wine that will make quite a statement. Somewhat surprisingly perhaps, the recommendation is to drink this wine on the young side, certainly over the next 5 years, before this youthful intensity mellows and the wine's inherent richness takes full control. This will be a fascinating one to follow.

Connoisseurs' Guide
f arguably the most flamboyant of the new DuMOL bunch, the "Isobel" bottling is also the deepest and most involving as well. It sports a fascinating mix of ripe apples, honey and bakery shop sweetness in the nose and follows with dramatic, deeply drawn flavors that go on and on. It, too, is a big wine, and it will want to be the star of the show, so plan to pour it with appropriately rich foods ... ideally after having been set aside for a few further years of development.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2009 Chardonnay Isobel Charles Heintz Vineyard is a cool, vibrant wine loaded with tons of minerality. Despite its freshness and vibrancy, the fruit is quite extroverted. Mango, white flowers, tangerine and pistachio are layered into the energetic, pointed finish. Exotic floral notes linger in the empty glass. This is another highly expressive Chardonnay from DuMOL. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2019.
