Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc, 11% Malbec, 4% Petit Verdot.

At first swirl, classic Bordeaux characters leap from the glass with cassis, black cherry, and peppery nuances evident. After several minutes, wonderful perfumed characters of rose petal, dried flowers, sage, and vanilla begin to mingle with the darker fruit elements. On the palate, the wine is rich and structured with excellent depth and silky, well integrated tannins. The finish is full bodied and seamless with an elegant mouthfeel.

Critical Acclaim

"David Stare was a founding member of the Meritage association, his Dry Creek Vineyard focused at the time on cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc. This '07 blends fruit from both the Dry Creek and Alexander valleys, fashioned into a graceful and powerful red by Bill Knuttel. The wine has richness without excessive sweetness, the dark fruit balanced by cedary herb scents and intense tannins that leave a mineral brand. Decant it to enjoy with grilled sirloin."

Today, Dry Creek Vineyard is committed to vineyard diversity, vinifying individual lots of fruit...

The atmosphere of Sonoma is decidedly laid back and down home country style. But in wines, they are keeping up with the...
