The Spätlese ("late-picked") designation means the grapes get a week or two of extra hang time for higher ripeness and deeper flavors than Kabinett. This Spätlese, from a truly "grand cru" vineyard in the village of Ürzig, has a juicy mouthful of exotic fruits and a tongue-tingling spiciness.
"Pale gold in color. The attractive nose features ripe yellow stone fruit with strong mineral overtones, while the palate reveals enough crisp, refreshing acidity to balance the sweetness. There’s a smooth, rich texture, showing ample flavors of ripe stone fruit, floral notes and honey. Concentrated, with a moderately long, fresh finish."
