Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Kabinett is the lightest most delicate style of Prädikatswein in Germany, but that does not necessarily mean weak. This 2010 Erdener Treppchen Kabinett combines extraordinary concentration of fruit and length on the finish with bracing minerality. An elegant, yet muscular wine, it makes an ideal aperitif as well as an excellent partner for lighter seafood and poultry dishes.

Critical Acclaim

"This offers an aroma redolent of apple pie, with flavors to match, carried by light notes of allspice. A straight-ahead, pure-tasting Kabinett. Drink now through 2022. 400 cases imported."
