We offer two ways to locate information:
Dow's 2004 Late Bottled Vintage is a wine of a single year but it is not a "declared" Vintage Port. Whereas Vintage Port spends only two years in oak cask and then matures in bottle, LBV is aged in seasoned oak casks and then bottled, when it is between four and six years old. At the time of bottling, Dow's LBV has completed its maturation and is ready for drinking without the need for decanting.
Dow's LBV 2004 has an intense and bright red colour. With a marvellous nose of intense red and black berry fruit aromas. The palate is very well rounded and the rich ripe blackberry fruit flavours lead to a long and lingering finish.
"On the dry side, typical of Dow's, a wine with jellied fruits kept behind firm, young tannins. The wine has definite acidity, bracketing the tannins and dark fruits. The perfumed aftertaste is fresh, but still keeping that dry core. Editors' Choice."
