Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Alcohol By Volume: 14.0%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Our crowd pleasing 100% Mourvedre bottling from several vineyards in El Dorado is sure to surprise and delight those unfamiliar with this varietal and fans know, this is a wine boasting soft fruit and earth and meaty notes that leaves you wanting more.

Critical Acclaim

"Saturated ruby. Textbook mourvedre aromas of cherry, dark berries, licorice and pungent herbs, with notes of smoky, loamy earth and dried rose adding complexity. Deeply pitched cherry and cassis flavors are enlivened by juicy acidity and pick up spiciness and a touch of cured meat with air. On the wild side, not unlike a Bandol, with very good finishing energy and gentle tannic grip. Those who find most New World wines to be too polished and polite should check this one out."
