Cold maceration before alcoholic fermentation is the DP style, oriented to preserve primary fruit aromas and a natural clean fruit expression. Fermented by native yeasts at low temperatures and aged in 100% new French Taransaud oak for 24 months. Neither fined nor filtered.

The Wine Advocate - "Dona Paula’s 2006 Seleccion de Bodega Malbec is a glass-staining opaque purple. It was fermented with native yeasts and aged in new French oak for 24 months. The nose reveals an aromatic array of pain grille, pencil lead, spice box, incense, black cherry, and black raspberry. Dense, layered, and full-bodied, it has gobs of spicy black fruit, enough structure to evolve for 3-5 years, and a lengthy, pure finish. It will offer prime drinking from 2013 to 2026."

Located in Ugarteche, Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza Argentina, Dona Paula is an estate winery, producing wines from Dona Paula's own vineyards in the winegrowing regions of Mendoza. Dona Paula's history began in 1990, when a period of exhaustive research on the different Argentinean terroirs and their potential to fully express each varietal began. Dona Paula acquired its first vineyard in 1997 in Ugarteche, Lujan de Cuyo, a region in the foothills of the Andes Mountains that is famous for its Malbec. Notable FactsUnlike its Chilean neighbor, Argentina's vineyards are spread out around the country. The best known region is Mendoza, almost parallel to Santiago to the west. Mendoza contains the sub-regions of Maipu (pronounced MY-pu) and San Rafael. Grape-wise, the most important white is Chardonnay, making wine similar to California's style on the variety. Another fun white grape to try is Torrontes. Almost only grown in Argentina, Torrontes makes wines that are crisp, aromatic and easy-drinking. Some of the best versions of this wine come from the northern region of Salta, with very high altitude vineyards. As for the reds, Cabernet Sauvignon is the main grape for many wines leaving the country, but Malbec, the grape Argentinians like to call their own, makes very distinctive wines that are structured, dense and velvety. Many more varieties happily grow in the country, but for export, and consistent quality, these are the primary grapes.

Alcohol By Volume GuideMost wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer.
