winemaker's notes:

This AOC Coteaux du Languedoc is the Domaine's flagship wine and expresses the essence of the terroir of Caux-Nizas. The Syrah has floral expression and medium body on our types of soil, whilst the Mourvèdre tends to be fuller bodied with good structure and complexity, which has not ceased to add to the palate since its introduction into the blend in 2001.

As for the Grenache, it brings superb generosity and softness to the wine. The oak aging of part of the wine to be included in the final blend in large barrels, aims to enhance the Mediterranean character of our wines without dominating it. Thanks to its structure and balance, this fine wine from Languedoc can be cellared and aged for many years.

Blend: 60% Syrah, 35% Mourvédre, 5% Grenache Noir

Not all I was expecting (from the good reviews) - 2/11/2009
I would not buy this wine again
Deep garnet color. Slight lactic aroma (on opening) then red grape, red fruits, smoke & violets. Dry, peppery GSM taste followed by a smoky, earth over iron w/ slight burnt tire flavor. Not a subtle wine, it has plenty of acidity & is good w/ grilled meats & stew. However, it's not worth the $ over other Rhônes (Pierre Amadieu "Roulepierre" @ $9). Decant before serving. WB13.

I would buy this wine again
Really a flavorful wine that combines all the best elements of a rich Languedoc with a smooth finish. Seems to go well with fish, beef, poultry or just by itself. One of the best I've tried.

Kosher
A Kosher wine begins like every other - as grapes on a vine. Once they reach the winery for crushing, the wine is under strict rabbinal supervision.
Screw Cap wine
Screw Cap
Many studies report and winemakers agree that screw caps protect wine better and preserve its flavor more effectively than cork. More importantly, screw caps eliminate cork taint caused by TCA, a compound which develops in a small percentage of corks and ruins the taste of wine.
