As for the 2008 Chardonnay Arthur, all I can say is that it reminds me of 2005 because there isn't enough of it! The wine itself is beautiful, with a range of white flowers on the nose, a round mouthfeel, and clear lift from the acidity. Balance is always my main winemaking goal, and the 2008 Arthur clearly has it. I expect it will age nicely for 3-5 years at least.
"This well-built chardonnay starts out quiet, with a faint scent of apple blossoms and dried pear. The flavors, lean at first, gain richness with a day's air, the golden apple and pear notes given drive and focus by a fresh, angular acidity. The wine still needs more time to form, but it's impressive already, a match for a pasta with razor clams. "
