winemaker's notes:

This great wine comes from the best terroirs of the appellation. The traditional culture of the vineyard, in Pest since many years, can make the most of. The symphony of the thirteen varieties we get a great complexity in our wines. The main grape varieties (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault) expressed remarkably in this fabulous terroir, and are complemented by other traditional varietals (Counoise, Terret, Muscardin, Vaccarèse) The harvest is still entirely manual - and as was once-, two buckets, to sort the grapes directly to select the finest grapes, ripe and healthy, the only ones capable of giving Big Vins.

2005 is a vintage exception, and its future is assured! It is the result of a particularly hot, but also very windy. The color purple is impressive for a wine made from grenache. It is spicy and has a side a little balsamic. His nose is explosive, with great fruit. Despite his youth, we can very complex on a range that varies between the spices and fruit. It is breathtaking, with a remarkably smooth, and incredible length.

critical acclaim:

"This has lots of juicy grip, with a strong, briary undertow supporting red and black licorice, hot stone, currant paste, tobacco and chestnut notes. The long, muscular finish is typical of the vintage. Best from 2010 through 2025."

Wine Spectator

"Bright ruby. Spicy red berries on the nose, with suave cinnamon and clove qualities adding interest. Ripe cherry and blackberry flavors are supported by supple tannins, which add subtle grip to the long, juicy finish. Balanced to age but delicious now."

90 Points

International Wine Cellar

"The 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape offers a very aromatic display of white chocolate, black cherry, roasted herbs, pepper, and espresso. The wine has excellent concentration, lush tannins for the vintage, and a round, opulent mouthfeel. It is almost atypical for a 2005 in its fullness and headiness. Certainly the tannins have melted effectively over the last year. Drink it over the next 12-15 years."

Kosher wine
Kosher
A Kosher wine begins like every other - as grapes on a vine. Once they reach the winery for crushing, the wine is under strict rabbinal supervision.
Screw Cap wine
Screw Cap
Many studies report and winemakers agree that screw caps protect wine better and preserve its flavor more effectively than cork. More importantly, screw caps eliminate cork taint caused by TCA, a compound which develops in a small percentage of corks and ruins the taste of wine.
Green wine
Green Wines
Wines that use sustainable, organic and/or biodynamic practices in the vineyard and/or winemaking process. We rely on a number of U.S. and International certifications to qualify wines "green."

About Professional Ratings

These wine ratings are based on a 100-point quality scale, and are selected by each publication's unique criteria. Some wine ratings are expressed as ranges. When this occurs we will list the highest score in the range and note the full range within the tasting note.

While ratings may influence your decision, the ultimate judgment is your palate.
