dom p will always surpass all vintages of champagne. The 96 is especially clean and light, with flavors of wheat and almond. I am looking foward to tasting it again in 10 years when it has fully matured.

I don't drink wine. But I adore champagne. This has got to be _the_best_ champagne I've ever tasted. It's so beyond any other I've had (even within the same price range). This is worth the price to experience. You may have a hard time sharing, though. *grin* So buy two bottles.

The Dom Perignon 1996 vintage is very very frothy and vibrant in the glass. It tastes like citrus/creame, a hint of candied ginger, and has a strong tingly finish. It will age nicely for several years. If you asked me to rate it, I would give it a 97 rating. Unique.....

In the immortal words of Lily Bollinger, "I drink it when I'm happy and when I'm sad. Sometimes I drink it when I'm alone. When I have company I consider it obligatory...Otherwise I never touch it, unless I'm thirsty." That "it" is champagne and this is the very best. I recommend buying in bulk, because if you are like the great lady (and I am), you'll polish off a case in no time.

Being an amateur winemaker since 1986, and a collector of red wines since that time, I appreciate a good vintage.
I recently purchased the '96 DP and can say that it addresses the embodiment of champagne like no other I've tasted.
I plan to reserve a few bottles for a later date. Perhaps I'll share these with friends in a year or 2.
