Dom. Grand Veneur Cotes du Rhone Les Champauvins 2000
Rhone Red Blends
from Cotes du Rhone, Rhone, France
Intense, brilliant garnet-red colour. The aromas of underwood and ripe red berries which are present are typical of the terroir. The tannic structure is elegant and smooth. The finish is dominated by slight touches of spices and truffles. A complete wine, rich and fine, thanks to the harmony of all the elements which make it up. It accompanies any type of meat, as well as mild to medium cheeses.
Alain Jaume's wines increase in quality each year. Domaine Grand Veneur has always been known for their white wines; in particular, this special bottling called "La Fontaine". Alain Jaume began his career here in 1979, but Grand Veneur was originally founded in 1826.

A Customer - maryland
This wine is what they say: elegant, rich without being so big that it can't reveal its delicious complexity.
And at that price, we are indulging by drinking this as our "every day" wine, even though it drinks like something special.
A terrific Chateauneuf, although not as big and bold as the $35-$74 bottles, without feeling the guilt of paying for it.
For those of us who thought we'd be drinking Chileans or Australian shirazes for daily fare, we are obsessed with the quality of this Rhone. How many cases would be gluttonous?
