The Côtes-du-Rhône Saint Esprit is made from a blend of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre and Carignan grapes, which come from a small village in the Ardeche region. The vineyard's southern exposure on steep granite hillsides provides the best growing conditions for the vines.
The Cuvée Saint Esprit shows the strength and a pepper taste typical of the Syrah grape. The color is deep garnet red and has intense red berry aromas. It is an exceptional full-bodied wine with fine tannins.
"This great northern Rhone negociant, spearheaded by their brilliant oenologist and winemaker, Jacques Grange, has consistently made fabulous wines from the northern appellations, but only recently upgraded the quality of their southern Rhone selections. These are the finest southern Rhones they make, and their Cotes du Rhone St.-Esprit ranks alongside the offerings from Guigal and Chapoutier."
The Wine Advocate
Really a nice healthy Rhone. Inky and rich but smooth. Goes well with steak or garlic chicken with mushrooms. I like to drink it by itself. And you can't beat the price. Love to give it as a gift.
Very drinkable. Paired well with lamb.
great for just any time fantastic price
The Delas St. Esprit Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge 2007 was a low priced wine, but it doesn't taste like one. It has a very robust favor and I would definately buy more at this price point.
Very good every day bottle; will purchase again. Suprising smooth and drinkable at this young age.
This is decent for a cheaper wine. The nose was full of berries but I almost feel the taste wasn't as full. It was very light on the palate. I was able to pick up the earthy taste of the wine as I savored it for a bit. Considering the price, I would buy this again.
The finish is a bit astringent for my taste, but it is a nice light red, great as a table wine.
Hard and tart on the palate, I've tried two bottles of this vintage to much disappointment. There's no real body to the wine. Being a fan of red wine from the Cotes-du-Rhone AOC, I tried a second bottle after my failed first try and found it similarly unappetizing. Given the other positive feedback, they could've been bad bottles, but I'm not going to pay for a third try!
not a very good blend
This was a reliable cotes du rhone. Nice bright fruit, yet restrained. Garigue, pencil lead minerality. Wish I had more.
This was supplied as an error. It was supposed to be for another wine.
Weak, tastless, one of the worst I have ever had the displeasure of drinking. Tannings
