The color is a deep garnet red. The nose is essentially fruity, with strong aromas of cassis and plums, and a touch of earth and spice. This is an ample, well-rounded wine that has sufficient tannins for ageing capacity. Games, grills and any kind of rich cuisines match well with this wine.

critical acclaim:

"Has a solid core of dark plum and currant fruit, but very racy iron and lavender notes dominate for now, with incense and tea hints on the finish. Should flesh out nicely in the near term. Best from 2009 through 2014."

I had a Crozes Hermitage in San Diego and loved it so, when I saw one here, thought "great!" Unfortunately, it's a bit sweeter than the one I'd had before, more fruit, less dry. If you're looking for a soft, fruity wine, with a bit more mouth feel than a pinot, then this is the one.
