The wine has a deep garnet-red hue with purple tinges. The nose, as with all good Hermitages, is both intense and complex. Domaine des Tourettes 2009 also shows concentrated aromas of fruit, with hints of blackberries and dark cherry. Oak underscores these with notes of toast and chocolate. On the palate the wine is well-built and its ample volume reveals the fine qualities of its granite terroir, finishing with a refreshing mineral-like edge.
Pair this wine with rare or well-cooked red meat, roasted game, marinated meat dishes and game stews. We recommend opening this bottle between one and three hours before drinking.
"The magnificent 2009 Hermitage Domaine des Tourettes boasts a black/purple color as well as a wonderful nose of creosote, incense, charcoal, blackberry jam, acacia flowers, white chocolate and a hint of espresso roast. Full-bodied and unctuously textured with low acidity and magnificent density, this 2009 can be drunk in 5-6 years or cellared for 30-50 years."
