The balance between the dominant Pinot Noir and the smaller percentage of Chardonnay in the Delamotte Rosé gives this wine its beautiful pale rose color. The wine has tiny bubbles with strong red fruit aromas and flavors. It is vivacious, supple and round with a hint of acidity. It makes a wonderful aperitif, as well as a good companion to poultry dishes or red fruit desserts.
"This rose bristles with the power and grace of a Vosne-Romanée, though its color is a more delicate salmon pink and its flavors more ethereal. You can breath its red fruit in the finish, where the strawberry notes turn vibrant and mouthwatering. The structure is substantial enough to match meat dishes, or pate de foie."
Wine & Spirits
"Very fragrant, boasting rose, violet, red berry and peach aromas and flavors. Opulent, even creamy, with underlying acidity that freshens the finish and a subtle aftertaste of fruit and spice. Drink now through 2012."
"Light orange-pink. Mineral-accented aromas and flavors of strawberry and blood orange, complicated by notes of toasty lees and white flowers. Tangy and precise, with strong finishing cut and lingering minerality. Distinctly elegant but shows plenty of depth and power."
International Wine Cellar
"The NV Brut Rose is a sinewy, taut wine laced with perfumed, energetic fruit. As delicious as the wine is, it is also clearly deeply informed by the Chardonnay of Mesnil, and I really wonder about the rationale behind a rose from a village that is so famous for its Chardonnays. To be sure, Delamotte’s rose is a pretty, harmonious wine, but at the top level, there is simply too much competition from houses with vineyards better suited to making top-class rose. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2014."
