Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The cool, foggy Russian River Valley climate allows for slow ripening, enabling grapes to develop full flavor maturation over an extended time. To create our 2009 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, grapes were hand-harvested from our vineyards.

This Pinot Noir opens with aromas of ripe Bing cherries and rose petal. Notes of fresh strawberry blend with complex flavors of shitake mushroom, forest floor, and bright notes of citrus peel. This wine is medium-bodied with well-integrated acidity and supple tannins. Finishes nicely with cola and lovely brown spices.

Critical Acclaim

"At first this is a tumble of forest scents, from mushrooms to conifer and eucalyptus. Then is shades toward eggplant purple in its fruit, with wood spice lasting. As it settles down in the glass, the fruit becomes bosky and dusky while holding that spice. Decant if for braised rabbit.
