Grown in the heart of Russian River's Pinot country, founder/winemaker Guy Davis was told by his neighbors that Syrah would never ripen in this area. They were almost right. He discovered you just have to wait longer for Syrah to ripen and he picks the grapes around Halloween or early November. We are glad he stuck it out! The 2007 Syrah jumps from the glass with aromas of violets and ripe boysenberry and carries the meaty richness thru to the velvety, plum finish.
"This is a big, strong, gutsy Syrah, a powerhouse of jammy blackberries, currants, bacon, pepper and sandalwood. It's completely dry, with rich, thick tannins and a long, spicy finish. Good now, with proper fare, and should glide path through the next six years."
