Winemaker's Notes

Deep red-ruby color with slight orange hues. Intense aroma of vanilla and licorice. Dry and good-bodied with a warm and elegant texture. Finishes fresh and persistent. Perfect for grilled red meat as well as raw milk cheeses such as cheddar and provolone.

Critical Acclaim

"Lots of spice, leather and cherry character. Intense on the palate with mixed berry and violet flavors. Medium bodied, with fresh acidity on the medium finish and chewy tannins. Best after 2010."

My first barolo and I was hoping to enjoy this more--tasted a bit thin. 2 hour decant.

It is not the most planted variety, but it does make the most distinctive and age-worthy wines. Native to Piedmont, Nebbiolo is a bit of a soil snob - it's finicky about where it grows and has long been the honored red grape of Northern Italy...
