red wine style:
Light & Fruity Smooth & Supple Earthy & Spicy Big & Bold
winemaker's notes:

An Eric Solomon joint venture with Isaac Fernandez. Tank fermented 100% Tempranillo that has been aged in older American and French oak. Picked from a 70 year old vineyard located 2,700 ft. in elevation. "Creta" means "Chalk" which is an important mineral component found in the top vineyards of the Ribera del Duero.

alcohol by volume: 14.5%
critical acclaim:

"The 2006 Roble is sourced from a single vineyard at 850 meters of elevation, the highest vineyard in Ribera del Duero. The wine was aged for 4 to 5 months in French and American oak. Purple/black in color, the nose reveals cedar, mineral, damp earth, and assorted black fruits. Powerful on the palate, this tannic, structured effort has superb depth and grip and should evolve for 3-4 years. Drink it from 2011 to 2020."

User Reviews

rating (10/20/2010):

a great value, made by people who obviously care a great deal about making good wine. Great layers of flavor, and remarkably well integrated for such an affordable bottle.
rating (9/27/2010):
Text-book good tempranillo; lots of nice fruit backed by nice undertones of earthiness. This is light enough to go with most foods, but hearty enough to be drunk by itself as a a rich, bone-warming red wine.

rating (9/25/2010):
I agreed with most of the comments: Nice dark color, lovely nose, full flavors...but then you come to the finish and it's thin and astringent. Seems to be drying out over time, the alcohol is winning the battle here. I prefer the Finca Reslsa from Emilio Moro. Check my review at: www.ramblingcork.com
