With 2007 & 2008 California & pacific coast Pinot Noirs so outstanding, any other must be judged against them. I and my guests agreed this wine is "top three" among the PNs we have tasted in the last year. It deserves its ratings. Terrific nose, great fruit flavor. Would compliment most any food, but can stand alone as a glass of cheer. More complex than others.
I have written reviews for previous vintages of Craggy Range Pinot Noir and this vintage is no different. Probably one of my favorite Pinot Noirs period, not just my favorite New Zealand Pinot. As you can see by the scores listed, it is one of the highest rated and consistent New Zealand Pinot made. If you are looking for a Pinot which is very fruity with a supple, velvety finish this is your wine. I drank a whole bottle before I even started to think about dinner.
Ok the first day, much better the second; actually very good the third day which suggests that it needs a little decanting. Very nice.
