Intense, purple-red in color with fragrant aromas of blueberries, damson plums, chocolate, and a hint of white pepper. Dense, rich texture on the palate highlighting favors of black fruits, with soft, sweet tannins and a good finish.
"The 2009 Riberas Carmenere was sourced from the Peumo Vineyard in the Cachapoal Valley, one of the prime sites for this variety. It contains 10% Cabernet Sauvignon in its blend. It spent 14 months in French and American oak, 15% new. It displays a bit more density and richness than the Riberas Cabernet along with an inviting nose of cedar, Asian spices, incense, lavender, plum, and blackberry. Concentrated, lengthy, and moderately structured, it can be approached now but will provide pleasure for another 5-6 years. It is an outstanding value."
