winemaker's notes:

Looking for an amazing value, delicious and new wine? This wine was what Bordeaux was originally primarily made from, now its found almost exclusively in Chili. This is a delicious example of this incredible variety, which combines the best of Cabernet and Merlot - Concha y Toro makes the best examples of this unique variety in the world.

Dark and deep red. Attractive aromas of dark plums, blackcurrant and chocolate, with hints of coffee and toasted American oak. Notes of dark plums and spice, with a generous touch of toasted American oak and a soft and well structured mouthfilling texture.

Enjoy with fresh light dishes based on meat and vegetables. Also a good accompaniment to ripe cheese.

My first taste of this wine was a pleasant surprise. I have to admit that I bought it solely based on the label graphics--I thought it would be a great wine to serve for Halloween festivities. I agree with the other reviewer-- It's a great change of pace from our everyday Merlots and Zins. This is a wine I will continue to purchase regularly and be proud to serve to dinner guests.

Did not have a clue about this wine when we bought it. I'd have to say I'd buy more. For my taste its between a big Zinfandel amd a Merlot. We drank it with a Taco Cassarole. We enjoyed it enough to have me look up and read about the Carmenere grape. This wine has a large taste at the first swallow, less then a cheap Zin, but much more complex flavors come out as you savor the wine. Not a burst of fruit. Somthing differant and good tasting, finish is nice. Not a great expensive wine. Don't expect a chalky, oak and tobacco wine, But a nice change from other midweek dinner wines we have enjoyed.
