I was skepitical when my local wine merchant suggested this inexpensive offering ($8.99). I'd been wanting expand my exposure to South American wines and this little number from Chile was a big surprise. Great cherry nose with hints of currant and plum, not to mention a surprisingly creamy finish. It's slightly Oaky for me but not burned. I highly reccomend this as an everyday Cab, and especially at the price.

I finally found a tender, full bodied, exquisite red with no acidity; and for under $10 dollars, this is a winner. A little secret: I have 2 wine dealer friends and none of theirs did the trick. A great and welcome surprise to have this wine in my cellar.

I’ve loved wine for so long, but never taken the time to study it and most of the times haven’t retained memory of the names of wines that I’ve enjoyed. I have some friends and family with never ending pocket books so have enjoyed some unbelievably expensive wines too. About 2 years ago, I decided that I was going to have a glass of wine every night at dinner to try to understand the different notes, flavors, scents and finishes of wines – at least enough so that I would start to understand what my pallet enjoyed. For over a year, while I enjoyed a good variety of wines (discovered I only like red wines and get head aches from whites), I was still confused as to what the qualities were in the wine that I liked. I thought this was because I was only drinking 1 glass per night and thought I was going to have to start tasting wines against each other to really understand the differences in wines. And then . . . came Concha y Toro 2005 Casillero Del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon. Wow! I was so happy when I tasted this wine that I ran straight to my computer to research it and when I read the reviews of it like “deep, fleshy, dense, and ripe with dense, herbal, spicy fruit; long and complex” and “if you like a very dry red, this is it” I was very excited to find that I loved the taste of a dry, fleshy, chocolaty, deep red with a long finish. I love the taste, smell and finish of this wine. It is the first wine I’ve ever had that makes me want to drink a whole bottle on my own and still want more! This wine is so affordable – I’m telling everyone I know and you too, go out and get some today and enjoy, you won’t believe it!

Smooth and well-balanced cabernet sauvignon with lingering finish. After breathing for an hour, the wine has developed even more enjoyable drinking experience. Chile has been consistently producing great wines, one after the other. Heaven, I am in Heaven!!!

It's a great wine for the prize, you can't find any better Cabernet Saubignon for less than $10.00. Bravo Chile.

What an unexpected surprise this wine is. The first time I tried it, I was at a birthday party with some friends. The host put out this wine in a decanter. I was so impressed with the complexity and oaky finish of the wine that I mentioned to him how suprised I was that he would put out such an expensive wine for mostly non-wine drinking guests. He winked at me then showed me the price tag on the bottle. I couldn't believe it. There is a notable absense of acidity to this wine and it has a surprisingly wonderful late finish. This is a perfect wine to serve to guests when you are on a budget. Trust me, this one will raise a few eyebrows.

WOW, The first time I tried this wine was at a fancy steakhouse restaurant in Mexico. I had order fillet mignon and my dad suggested to have some wine with my steak. I'M not much of a wine drinker, I'M more of a cognac or grand marnier drinker. I ask the waiter to bring the wine list, I respond to my father what type of wine he suggest, He said to pick one out from the South American region (Chile) because he said that they have great wines. When I was looking at the list, they had three different regions from (Chile) for some reason the name "Casillero Del Diablo" had a cache sound which it means "Cellar of the Devil". I ask for half a bottle to try the wine. WOW what a taste, it made a perfect combination with the fillet mignon. I had the bottle to my self, The taste was perfect not to strong and delicious. since then I have purchase this wine, I have purchase wines that have the cost up to 30.00 dollars Casillero Del Diablo did it better and for the prize amazing, I truly recommend this wine, Enjoy......
