Columbia Crest Walter Clore Private Reserve Red 2001
Bordeaux Red Blends
from Columbia Valley, Washington
winemaker's notes:
"Firm, with a lovely bead of ripe currant, blueberry and sweet spice flavor coursing through a long, lively finish. Tannins are nicely polished and the fruit prevails against oaky character on the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2006 through 2012."
-Wine Spectator
"This sophisticated blend offers complex flavors of mixed red fruits, nicely textured and layered. You can pick out distinct pomegranate, cranberry, red berry and cherry flavors; there's nothing monlithic about it. There are also some hints of olive and herb, and substantial tannin."
-Wine Enthusiast
The Walter Clore Private Reserve was picked from Columbia Crest's premier vineyard sites in 2001. Vineyards are located on the Wahluke Slope (50%), offering aromatics, texture and complexity and on the Horse Heaven Hills (50%), introducing balance and body.
"A classic Bordeaux-style wine offering a heady nose of cherry, blackberry, cinnamon and cocoa. Fruit and oak are perfectly balanced on the palate, and the seductive chocolate, cherry, blackberry finish lingers."
