winemaker's notes:
Number 81 on the Wine.com 100 of 2007!
This complex artisan wine is produced using various barrel types and varietals to offer classic Merlot spice, blackberry, and cocoa aromatics which persist on the palate. The balance of wood and black fruits creates a velvety, seductive finish.
"Supple, ripe and seductive, a plush wine with gorgeous plum, blackberry, currant and hints of exotic spice swirling through the round, generous finish. Drink now through 2010."

Musky at first on nose, with a hint of plum. Velvet on the pallette, smooth, and enough of the tannins remain to keep it honest. Cinnamon, oak, and some fruit on a mildly lingering afterthought. Great wine for the money.

When we first opened and poured, we thought good, not great. A touch tight and herbal. Man, as it opened up, combo of milk and dark chocolate, herbs turned to a touch of mint and rosemary. Enough tannin to not be a fruit bomb but still very, very round and smooth. Great wine for the $$.

Best Merlot I've tasted for under $20 this year. Columbia Crest does it again - always a great value.
