winemaker's notes:
The warm, caramel qualities resulting from partial barrel fermentation in French oak are smoothly integrated with the Chardonnay varietals natural spice and cinnamon notes, all through the full middle palate and into the long, lush finish.

I'm not a avid taster of white wine, have to admit Colombia Crest Chardonnay has an smoothe taste, even for a die hard Cabernet fan.

Having enjoyed the 1997 & 1998 releases of the Columbia Crest Grand Estate Chardonnay, I was delighted to find the 1999 release with the incredible 91 WS rating available at only $9.00/bottle by the case. I an certainly not an expert, but I found the 1997 [WS 91] release to be one of the best Chardonnay's I have had. The 1998 [WS 90] was excellent, but not quite as good as the '97. Even though I find the 1999 release to be an excellent value, it is nowhere near the 1997 or even the 1998 releases. I am surprized at the rating, but you still can't go wrong with this wine.
