This rare cuvée has quickly become one of our favorite whites of the vintage, and is simply dazzling in its Montrachet-like complexity. Notes of honeysuckle and toasted brioche blend with melon marmalade and peaches on the seductive nose. Palate-staining and long, the mouth retains the freshness of 2007 (Meyer lemon and kumquat) yet adds a layer of suppleness in notes of honeyed lemons and peach compote. The finish is vibrant, offering lingering flavors of grapefruit and pineapple. As the name suggests, the grapes for this noble blend of Grenache blanc, Clairette Rose and Roussanne of were grown on the sandy soils of estate vineyards "Bédines" and "Pignan," just outside the estate "clos," or walled vineyard.
"Bright yellow. Powerfully scented, sexy bouquet of fresh pear and quince, licorice, herbs and dried lavender. Broad and sappy, with deep orchard fruit flavors and exotic notes of candied flowers and baking spices. The floral quality carries through on the long, pure and focused finish. This is complex already."
