Clos du Bois Dry Creek Reserve Zinfandel 2001
from Sonoma County, California
"What a classic Dry Creek Zin. Good, rich color leads to aromas of wild berries, herbs and telltale aroma of brambles, like sun-warmed berry bushes in a thorny patch on a hot day. Brilliant and pure in the mouth, lush and ripe in flavor and dry tannins, but keeps Zin's wild, succulent edge."
Dense aromas and and flavors of blackberries are complemented by toasty vanilla nuances with spicy black pepper accenting the finish. A small amount of Tempranillo, aged in new French oak, was used to enhance the forward fruit flavors and complexity of the wine.

They served this wine with chocolate cake at a wine tasting dinner I attended. I'm not going to tell you have excellent it was because .. then everyone will buy it and they won't be anything left for me. I am going to buy my share of it NOW.
