Clos du Bois Chardonnay 2005
Chardonnay
from Sonoma County, California
winemaker's notes:
With a brilliant, silver- and straw-yellow hue, this Chardonnay rises out of the glass with intense apple, ripe pear and sweet lemon drop scents. They are complemented by toasty oak, spice and butter notes from barrel and malolactic fermentation. The palate is bright and juicy, with rich, ripe, apple and pear flavors and a long, fresh aftertaste. The texture is silky-smooth, with a creaminess achieved by hand-stirring the lees in barrels during the sur lie aging.

I didn't taste the buttery finish. It went better with the Chocolate dessert than the dinner.

I don't normally enjoy Chardonnays as they are either too crisp/tart or too buttery but this one is a nice balance of fruit and buttery finish - very enjoyable on a hot summer day!

Usually Chardonnays are too "crisp" for me, but this one is perfect. It is very smooth and fruity without being sweet.
