Clos du Bois Calcaire Vineyard Chardonnay 2002
Chardonnay
from Sonoma County, California
winemaker's notes:
"Distinctive and individualistic, with mineral, apricot, citrus and wildflower notes -- not your typical Chardonnay. This is possibly the result of clonal variations. The wine drinks smooth, creamy, dry and complex, with a peppery finish."
-Wine Enthusiast
Our Calcaire Vineyard is bordered by the Russian River in the southern end of Alexander Valley. Crop yields are low and the fruit is small and intensely flavored. Calcaire is a medium-bodied, lush wine with tropical fruit flavors, soft vanillin oak bouquet and a long, complex finish.

Had a bottle at G.W. Fins, a mostly seafood rest, $41. Very good, went well with the food. Nice nose, well balanced, not a lot of wood. Not a bargain, but good value.
