The advantage of being an Estate Winery are never more apparant than in a year like 1998. Facing a late, cool growing season, Estate vineyards can better afford to reduce yields to a minimum, ensuring ripe, if meager crop. A wine of classic styling, with pretty blueberry, cassis and strawberry fruit wed to moderate but firm tannins, and yet none of the herbaceous notes which mark an under-ripe Cabernet. A blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon (68% from Palisades Vineyard and 24% Graveyard Hill), spiced with Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc from the Home Ranch, this elegant release continues the legacy of fine Cabernets from our Estate vines.
