We offer two ways to locate information:
We have added the following products to your shopping cart from a previous visit:
Light to medium bodied wines that are high in acid and light to medium fruit. Typically no oak.
Light to medium bodied wines with lots of juicy fruit, typically medium acid and medium oak.
Full bodied wines that have typically undergone malo-lactic fermentation and/or spent time in oak.
n the style of the Loire Valley we fermented two-thirds of this wine in 130 gallon puncheons, allowing us to gain barrel ferment complexity, as well as the subtle influence of new French oak. The remaining portion embraces the new world; fermented and aged in stainless steel at cool temperatures to preserve the gooseberry and tropical fruit tones. Both lots undergo no malolactic fermentation to retain a crisp acidity, and receive extensive lees stirring to give fatness and richness to the palate.
The wine has an intense nose of gooseberry, melon and hay aromas, with hints of lime, grapefruit and flint. The palate is lively and vibrant, yet supple with great fruit richness and length.
"As deep and well-fruited as Sauvignon Blanc is likely to get, this rich and outgoing rendition from Clos Pegase leads with classic varietal aromas of melons, sweet limes and leafy greens and follows with rich, mouthfilling flavors that are enriched by wonderfully proportioned oak. It is fairly full-bodied and slightly fleshy in feel, and, for all of its richness and size, it is beautifully balanced, remarkably vital and very light on its feet. "
Completed in 1987, Clos Pegase was designed to be a temple to wine on a 47 acre Calistoga vineyard. The winery has a total of 450 acres, mostly located in Carneros. The Clos Pegase label features Pegasus, painted circa 1890 by the French artist Redon. This painting is winery owner Jan Shrem's favorite work of art from his extensive private collection.
Technically a part of Napa Valley, the Carneros region straddles both Sonoma & Napa counties. It's the Napa region closest to the San Francisco peninsula and the San Pablo Bay, which is instrumental in controlling the climate of the area. The winds from the San Pablo bay create a cool weather pattern ideal for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
