Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Enticing aromas, black cherry, and saddle leather greet the nose of this Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Dried cherries, vanilla, smoked meats and hints of licorice transition to a well structured mid-palate that takes flavor of cherry cola and spice through a long finish.

The 2008 kit's killer cab is a blend of (78%) Cabernet Sauvignon, (8%) Merlot, (8%) Malbec and (6%) Cabernet Franc. The fruit comes from an alluvial fan on Ritchie Creek in Calistoga, while the Cabernet Franc and Malbec both come from the famed Oakville appellation. The Merlot comes from a vineyard that resides alnong the Napa River.

The wine was aged in first and second fill French oak barrels for 18 months.
