Enticing aromas, black cherry, and saddle leather greet the nose of this Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Dried cherries, vanilla, smoked meats and hints of licorice transition to a well structured mid-palate that takes flavor of cherry cola and spice through a long finish.
The 2008 kit's killer cab is a blend of (78%) Cabernet Sauvignon, (8%) Merlot, (8%) Malbec and (6%) Cabernet Franc.The fruit comes from an alluvial fan on Ritchie Creek in Calistoga, while the Cabernet Franc and Malbec both come from the famed Oakville appellation. The Merlot comes from a vineyard that resides alnong the Napa River.
The wine was aged in first and second fill French oak barrels for 18 months.
