Winemaker's Notes

Vines harvested by hand. Pre-ferment maceration then pressing and racking in oak vats to comlete fermentation. No use of external yeasts, enzymes or other oenological products.

Medium purple and ruby color. The nose speaks of blackcurrant, redcurrant, blueberry and other small red fruits. The mouth has sweet tannins and is rich of floral flavors as iris and violet. There is a good balance between a lovely freshness of fruit and velvety of tannins.

When young accompany with eggs in red wine sauce. In a year or two it will be a perfect match for tender poultry from Bresse. Can be aged for 3-5 years.

Critical Acclaim

"The vast 190-acre Château de Pierreux is Mommessin's showpiece estate. From it comes this rich wine, with velvet sumptuousness that is kept in check by some firm tannins. It’s a powerful wine, likely to age, its flavors of strawberry and red currant combining with a weighty texture. "

Here the sandy, pink granite soil sprinkeld with blue...

But the region of Beaujolais, situated at the bottom of the Burgundy AC, is more than just the nouveau. Some Beaujolais wines can be kept (gasp!) for up to 10 years! Those are usually the Cru Beaujolais and are...

Learn About Gamay

Gamay (gah-MAY) Beaujolais' Baby Gamay is a pale colored grape, best associated with the region of Beaujolas. In fact, few regions or grapes are so wholly intertwined with one another. After being universally rejected by the rest of Burgundy in the 14th century, Gamay found its niche a bit further south, in Beaujolais. Beyond that part of France, Gamay can also be...
