Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

This is the ultimate sculpted wine, showcasing the power and elegance of Washington fruit. The 2005 Artist Series Meritage is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petit Verdot from the Columbia Valley. Each variety contributes a special attribute to the blend, resulting in a complex wine with seamless tannins. The 2005 Artist Series marks the first time that Merlot, and not Cabernet, makes up a majority of the blend. The 2005 Merlot deserved to be the star of the show.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2005 Artist Series Meritage is composed of 57% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the balance Petit Verdot and Malbec. Opaque purple-colored, the expressive bouquet jumps from the glass with notes of toasty oak, earth, blueberry, and black cherry jam. Supple, ripe, and layered on the palate, the wine has excellent depth and concentration and enough stuffing to evolve for 3-5 years. This classy wine should be at its best from 2012 to 2025. "
