Chateau St. Jean Belle Terre Chardonnay 2005
Chardonnay
from Sonoma County, California
winemaker's notes:
Bright and lively, this medium-bodied Chardonnay offers inviting aromas of lemon, yellow nectarine and mango. This beautiful fruit carries over on the palate with yellow stone fruit flavors and lightly-toasted oak characters of caramel and toffee. Rich, ripe and perfectly balanced, this wine lingers in the mouth with hints of hazelnut and nutmeg.
Planted in the heart of Alexander Valley and cooled by fog from the nearby Russian River, Belle Terre Vineyard ("Beautiful Land") captures the classic essence of this premier Chardonnay appellation. This wine is 100% fermented in French oak barrels and goes through secondary malolactic fermentation.
"The 2005 Chardonnay Belle Terre Vineyard exhibits abundant notes of honeysuckle, white peaches, and apricots in its medium to full-bodied personality. With terrific freshness, purity, and length, it should drink well for 4-5 years."
