Chateau Sociando-Mallet Haut-Medoc 1998
Bordeaux Red Blends
from Medoc, Bordeaux, France
winemaker's notes:
Château Sociando-Mallet makes concentrated, deliciously balanced wines that equal many classified growths in quality. It has an excellent reputation among French wine lovers, who appreciate its undeniable finesse. Flavors are full-bodied and complex, with pronounced cassis and raspberry fruit; in the nose, notes of spicy, smoky, noble oak and vanilla mingle with the red fruit. It is much appreciated for its excellent aging quality and typically develops gracefully for 10-25 years after the vintage.
"Deep black-ruby. Intensely spicy, vibrant aromas of blackberry, cassis, coffee bean and bitter chocolate. Large-scaled and quite dense, but with terrific sappy sweetness in the mouth and noteworthy precision of flavor. More massive than the '99, and powerfully built for aging. Finishes very long and subtle, with fine, ripe tannins."
