Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

From one vintage to the next, one of the strengths of Chateau Pipeau is to offer consistent style and personality. It is a wine with expressive fruit, an opulent nose of red berries, roundness on the palate, with good length and a harmonious and elegant finish. Chateau Pipeau is very delightfull when young but it also has all the qualities for laying-down of a really great Saint-Emilion!

Critical Acclaim

"There's a nice color to this red, with aromas of flowers, perfume, red fruits and dark licorice. Full and layered, with loads of fruit, yet reserved and long. Turns slightly herbal, but it's juicy and delicious overall. Drink now through 2014. 11,665 cases made."
