The 1995 vintage of this wine was ranked #4 on the Wine Spectator's Top 10 Wines of 1998
The wine, a concentrated, dark red of considerable intensity, has a highly refined nose that opens on slightly toasted aromas mingled with floral notes. On the palate it reveals a tight structure of stylish tannins, dense but not harsh, enhanced by forward fruit with crisp cherry notes. The long and flavorsome finish shows beautiful balance, expressing the freshness of the fruit and the power of a skillfully controlled texture.
"Raspberry and blackberry aromas follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate, with velvety tannins and a caressing finish. Best after 2010. 8,500 cases made."

Wine Spectator
"This outstanding effort displays loads of cassis fruit interwoven with notions of espresso roast, white chocolate, and menthol. It possesses a terrific front end, good mid-section, and moderately high tannin in the finish. Approximately 15,000 cases were produced. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2025."
The Wine Advocate
"This finely structured wine offers good aging possibilities. But, for the moment, it has great acidity, juicy red fruits, solid tannins and a powerful new wood element that has come well into balance."
Wine Enthusiast
"Dark red. Cool, slightly medicinal nose hints at licorice, dark chocolate and currant leaf. Richer and more velvety than the Armailhac but less expressive and evolving slowly. This has very good acidity but also a lovely subtle sweetness for the year and surprisingly suave, broad tannins."
