Winemaker's Notes

This wine is from Bordeaux's right bank near the town of Blaye. It's 100% Sauvignon Blanc and delivers a clean, fresh, perfumed nose with white fruit aromas and hints of fresh mint leaves. On the palate, it's fruity with hints of white flowers and tropical fruit. It's light yet elegant with good length and complexity. A refreshingly, aromatic wine that over delivers on its quality!

Chateaue Bertinerie has remained in the same family for almost two centuries. The renovations of the estate first began when Daniel Bantegnies took over in 1961. Today, it's run by his two sons, Eric and Frantz, who are both qualified viticulturalists and oenologists.

The prestige of this wine estate has been achieved through a successful blend of innovation, tradition, and experience. True to this spirit, the estate has been growing "lyre" trained vines since 1987, working closely with the National Agronomic Research Institute, which created and developed this vine-training technique with the aim of producing grapes which are richer in tannins and have greater finesse, the essential characteristics of great red wines.

One step up on the AOC chain is the Premieres Cotes de Blaye AC, producing...

Learn About Bordeaux White Blends

Bordeaux White Blend
There's white wine in Bordeaux, too! Typically made from Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and bits of Muscadelle, white Bordeaux can be a fully dry table wine or, as in Sauternes, a deliciously sweet dessert wine. In other areas of the world, a Bordeaux blend consists primarily of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, either of which may be the predominant variety. Bordeaux blends can vary in style, but most have good acidity and often a mineral overtone.
