Charles Krug Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

Our Peter Mondavi Family Cabernet Sauvignon provokes aromas of anise and pomegranate that melds with smoky overtones. On the palate, flavors of ripe red berries and hickory bring out hints of nutmeg. Well balanced oak gives way to a smooth, rich finish for this exceptional wine.

The 2008 growing season saw widespread frost damage and challenging summer conditions which reduced yields and produced a lighter-than-average vintage. A dry spring and a lengthy late April frost, the coldest in more than three decades, were followed by three odd heat waves before mid-July, rain in some places and high winds — all during the critical bloom period. As a result, grapes were smaller, but more concentrated. Despite a 'crazy weather year', wines produced in this season were well-structured, elegant and full of flavor.
