winemaker's notes:

To the eye, a tint of English roses and cherry blossoms illuminate a strand of fine and lively bubbles.

To the nose, harmoniously bucolic, the first fruity notions of grapefruit and wild strawberries enrich notes of fresh tobacco, cinnamon and liquorice stick. The final note is truly gourmande, evoking vanilla as well as the frothy nature of homemade jam.

To the mouth, fresh and soft with a morning atmosphere of toast, butter and blueberries, striking just the right balance between freshness and development.

alcohol by volume: 12.5%
critical acclaim:

"This rose offers a lovely texture and an airy mousse, with bright, mouthwatering acidity and flavors of dried cherry, almond biscotti and dried apricot. Features a stony, mineral-tinged finish. Drink now through 2020."

Wine Spectator

"The aromas are of smoky bottle age and this translates into the flavors, with a light rancio character giving complexity to a finely made, rich, raspberry-flavored wine. It is full-bodied in the Charles Heidsieck style, a definite food wine."

Wine Enthusiast

"Orange-pink. Potent, smoke-accented aromas of raspberry, cherry, anise and iodine. Rich and energetic, offering intense red fruit and bitter orange flavors and notes of buttered toast and rose pastille. Closes with very good breadth and outstanding length, leaving a gentle spicy note behind."

International Wine Cellar

"A lightly fruited nose that is high-toned, pure, understated and very fresh dissolves into stylish and delicate flavors that possess excellent detail and plenty of depth yet it's through focus and delineation rather than power that it achieves its wonderful sense of character. This is really quite fine and while the '99 is hardly a great vintage in Champagne, I quite like this example. Recommended for a rosé that could be drunk now or aged for another 5 years or so."
