winemaker's notes:
In the heart of the Mâcon winegrowing region, South of Burgundy. The two villages Viré and Clessé form a unique "terroir" on slopes facing Southeast. This is one of the best white wines of the region combining suppleness and minerality.
The 2009 vintage was marked by a cold winter and a beautiful spring. The hot summer was interrupted by stormy intervals which fortuitously took place when needed and thus facilitated growth and good maturation of the grapes. Harvest began early September with excellent weather conditions.
Pale gold in color, the wine has floral fragrances mixed with fresh citrus aromas, enhanced by a beautiful minerality.
The taste is crisp at first, followed by a tight acidity. It has a refreshing and mineral finish.
This wine is a fine, dry apéritif, great with light seafood and raw vegetable hors d'oeuvres.
